Hills Road Project

We undertook this Hills Road project in conjunction with James McConachie Builders in Christchurch, NZ. Designed by Alfrey South, the house makes the most of its expansive, rural setting through inbuilt joinery that divides the floor area into comfortable spaces and carefully thought-out glazing.

An extensive joinery package included the centrepiece of the house, a stunning kitchen and island, with a vaulted ceiling above. The design called out contrasting materials, with the matt soft-touch HPL for the wall unit, and light-coloured, hand-picked, Granite top and a range of stained Oak finish to the remainder of the kitchen.

The Living and Office areas included a hybrid black powder-coated steel and Oak bookshelf, while the dressing, master bedroom and guest wardrobes used heavier tones. The ensuites had solid timber framing a granite splashback, tying in with the kitchen details. The finer points are well thought out, with mitred drawer front and timber clashings, leading to clean lines to the various cabinetry units.
